About Us
OUR BACKGROUND
Our story starts way back more than 20 years ago to improve womens life.
Fahari ya Mama Tanzania (FMT) is a non-profit, Non-Governmental Organization, non-profit sharing organization working with women, youth and vulnerable and marginalized groups of people in Tanzania. FMT evolved from women and environment protection activist aimed at protecting environment and health of people by promoting utilization of alternative clean energies for kitchen and domestic use as well as protecting women, girls and youth from burden of fetching fire wood and charcoal for domestic purposes.
In 2002, FMT was fully registered as NGO with number 00NGO/R/3237 with the purpose of improving the livelihoods of Women, youth (youth girls and boys) and other marginalized and vulnerable groups both in urban and rural areas through nutrition and food security, environmental and nature conservation protection, alternative energies cooking energies promotion, health, economic empowerment, human rights and HIV/AIDS.
The organization is established with courage of networking different NGO forum, National associations and organizations in Tanzania including development partners, companies, institutions, and individuals in contributing to achieving the organizational goals for improving the quality life of women, youth and marginalized community in Tanzania, through lobbying and advocacy, awareness raising, research, information sharing, facilitating access to education, better health and nutrition, safe cooking energies, vocational trainings and economic empowerment
This organization is one that has combined financial and technical assistance for women youth and marginalized groups with empowerment and training programs. As a model of operation FMT has encouraged women and youth to organize themselves into groups which has created cohesiveness within members of the groups. Instead of struggling alone, now these women and youth can work together to solve problems. FMT has focused on participatory, sustainable and empowerment projects.

- Communication and domestic technologies development and dissemination
- Advocacy, Sensitization and lobbying for social capital development and women empowerment
- Environmental Protection and Nature Conservation and clean coking energies technologies development
- Food, Nutrition and Income Security including reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS to adolescence
Our Objectives
- To contribute to the national efforts on supporting women and community on accessing clear domestic energies for utilization and health protection in rural and urban areas.
- To contribute to the overall community development through mainstreaming crosscutting issues related to gender, women empowerment, human nutrition, Children rights abuse, HIV/AIDS, water hygiene and sanitation and Environmental issues.
- To influence women, youth on the technological development and use digital platforms for income generation, dissemination of innovative and creative technologies and marketing.
- To advocate for women, youth and vulnerable groups such as children’s rights
